Shearer Praises West Ham Frontman Who Was “A Threat All Afternoon” Against Southampton

TV pundit Alan Shearer has praised West Ham forward Sebastien Haller for his performance in the 3-1 win against Southampton at the weekend.

The 25-year-old has been repeatedly criticised for failing to make an impact in games this campaign but the Frenchman has also been isolated on his own up front, and Shearer noticed that the support that the club-record signing was given versus the Saints had improved dramatically:

“The big difference I noticed about West Ham today was the way that got support in and around Haller, when balls got up to him, they were running in around off of him. He was a threat all afternoon was Haller.”

Haller performed at his best when playing alongside Ante Rebic and Luka Jovic in a three-man attack at Eintracht Frankfurt last season. It is no coincidence that the presence of both Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio in the side on Saturday provided the catalyst for a much-improved display.

It really isn’t rocket science and fans will be frustrated that it has taken so long for the Irons to get the best out of their £45m summer purchase. Hopefully, it will lead to better attacking performances in the closing months of the campaign.
