Former Chelsea Coach Ruled Out Of Running For West Ham Job

West Ham are “not currently considering”  Graham Potter as a replacement for David Moyes, according to The Mirror (via WestHamZone.com).

It appears that the 48-year-old has not made the list that technical director Tim Steidten has drawn up as the Hammers seek a new manager for next season.

Potter hasn’t been in work for over a year, having left Chelsea at the beginning of April 2023. He has been linked with several teams, including Ajax and Manchester United, but it appears he won’t be moving to the London Stadium.

The former Brighton head coach was among the early frontrunners to succeed Moyes. However, a number of other names have entered the frame for the job in recent weeks.

Who are the candidates to become West Ham’s next manager?

Like Potter, former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui was regarded as one of the favourites, but the Spaniard is now expected to join AC Milan.

Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim has already held talks with the Irons but the Portuguese coach has seemingly ruled out joining the Irons.

The Mirror suggest that Lille manager Paulo Fonseca and ex-Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick are still in the mix, while there are likely to be plenty of other names suggested over the coming days.

Showdown talks with Moyes

West Ham’s current manager does still have a contract offer on the table but the Scot revealed a couple of months ago that he wouldn’t decide on his future until the summer.

It is believed that chairman David Sullivan will hold an end-of-season meeting with Moyes before the end of May. It is expected any final decision on the 61-year-old’s future will be announced once those discussions have taken place.

In the meantime, Steidten is expected to continue consulting with potential candidates who could be appointed as Moyes’ successor.
