West Ham have tabled a more lucrative proposal to ex-Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui than rivals AC Milan, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper claims that the Hammers have made a “richer offer” than the Rossoneri but the 57-year-old is leaning towards taking the job in Italy.
Supporters on X are keeping their fingers crossed that Lopetegui agrees to become Milan’s next head coach as they don’t think he would be an improvement on David Moyes:
I’d rather keep Moyes

Who else are West Ham targeting if Lopetegui drops out of the running?
Lille’s Paulo Fonseca and former Chelsea head coach Graham Potter are among the leading candidates if the former Wolves boss does accept the offer from Milan.
The other options that the Irons could consider include ex-Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick, Middlesbrough’s Michael Carrick, Fulham’s Marco Silva and former Nottingham Forest coach Steve Cooper.
Fans are desperate for the board to be ambitious
Many of the names being discussed as potential successors to Moyes have not exactly been met with enthusiasm by the fanbase.
Like Lopetegui, many regard managers such as Potter and Cooper as a sideways step. A big name is needed to energise people. Attracting someone like Flick or maybe even Thomas Tuchel could be what’s needed in order to sell season tickets.
