West Ham Fighting To Keep Hold Of 18 y/o Midfielder With Arsenal, United And Spurs ‘Battling’ To Sign Him

West Ham attacking midfielder Daniel Rigge is being pursued by three other Premier League teams, according to ESPN.

The website claims that Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are “battling” to secure the 18-year-old’s signature, with Spurs currently “leading the race.”

Rigge only signed a new deal back in October, keeping him at the London Stadium until the summer of 2026.

However, he has attracted the attention of rival clubs whilst playing for the Hammers’ Under 18s this season, having scored 12 goals and contributed 6 assists in 26 appearances.

At the moment, Rigge is not believed to be pushing for a move away from West Ham and the club should be confident of keeping the player as he is tied down to a professional contract.

Who is Daniel Rigge?

The midfielder hasn’t actually been at the London club for very long, having moved from Manchester City in 2022 after being released by the Premier League champions.

Since then, Rigge has climbed up West Ham’s youth ranks, having also made his debut for the club’s Under 21 side this campaign, scoring against West Brom on his first appearance back in January.

It is his displays for the Under 18s, though, that have really caught the eye in recent months, having helped his team to second place behind Chelsea in the table.

West Ham must provide a pathway to the senior team

It is noticeable that the club haven’t blooded as many youngsters in the first team in recent seasons, with Ben Johnson the last one to really make the breakthrough.

Even so, the fullback is set to leave the Hammers this summer and another promising young prospect, Divin Mubama, could soon follow him out the door if he doesn’t sign a contract extension soon.

It will be up to whoever succeeds David Moyes as manager to give younger players such as Rigge a chance so they are not tempted to leave for other teams.
