Ex-Chelsea Manager ‘Evaluating Offers’ From West Ham And Newcastle But Demands That They Sign 2 Players

Former Chelsea and Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri is “evaluating offers” from West Ham and Newcastle to become their next manager, according to Il Messaggero.

The Italian newspaper claims Sarri’s new agent Frank Trimboli has received the proposals and the Italian is now considering his options.

It emerged earlier this week that current Irons boss David Moyes is leaning towards leaving the London Stadium at the end of the season.

The Scot’s contract expires in June and he has confirmed that, despite receiving an offer to extend his stay at the club, he hasn’t signed the paperwork.

West Ham technical director Tim Steidten has therefore reportedly drawn up a list of potential candidates to replace Moyes.

Sarri is keen to bring in two signings

Il Messaggero report that Sarri would want two of his former Lazio players, Alessio Romagnoli and Matteo Guendouzi, to come with him wherever he goes.

Romagnoli is a centre-back so there would be space for him at West Ham if the likes of Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd are sold.

There would be more reservations about Guendouzi. The former Arsenal player is known to be a disruptive influence. He left the Emirates under a cloud and he has now fallen out with Sarri’s successor at Lazio; Igor Tudor.

Who are the other candidates to become West Ham manager?

Sarri could have competition from two other former Chelsea head coaches for the Hammers job. Both Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel have been heavily linked with the post.

Ex-Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui and ex-Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper could also come under consideration.

For now, fans will have to wait and see what Moyes decides to do. Many are keen to see a change in the dugout, despite the London club sitting 8th in the Premier League table.
