West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace are all looking to snap up Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi on a free transfer, according to TuttoJuve.com.

The Italian website claims that Juventus, Getafe, Sevilla and Fenerbahce are also keen on signing the Nigerian international this summer.

Ndidi remained with Leicester last year despite their relegation to the Championship and he has been a key player in the Foxes’ promotion push.

So far this season, the 27-year-old has racked up 4 goals and 6 assists in 32 appearances for Enzo Maresca’s side.

Despite being a regular starter, though, Ndidi has not put pen to paper on a contract extension and, with his current deal expiring in June, it looks like he will leave the King Power Stadium after seven and a half years.

Ndidi was once called the New Kante

The Nigerian was signed by Leicester six months after the club sold N’Golo Kante to Chelsea. The Premier League’s own website even labelled him the “new Kante” but the player says he found the comparison troubling:

“Yes it [the comparison] used to irritate me but it’s football and I completely understand the fans because they love to find something to talk about Even before and then when I arrived at Leicester I heard it. I only wanted to be Wilfred Ndidi and not someone else.”

West Ham need to reinforce their midfield options

Many fans believe that the midfield trio of Edson Alvarez, Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse lacks dynamism so recruiting someone like Ndidi does make a lot of sense.

While Ndidi is nowhere near as energetic as Kante once was, he does possess athleticism and the ability to cover a lot of ground, making him a real asset defensively. He is also pretty adaptable, having been deployed as a centre-back on occasion in the past.
