Hammers boss David Moyes admits he has been left fuming by the way in which his side lost against Newcastle United.

West Ham went into the game with a good run of form against a struggling Newcastle side who they were favourites to beat.

But despite taking the lead through Marko Arnautovic, Newcastle fought back to get the score to 2-1. Andre Ayew then missed a penalty in what would have levelled the scoring and put the momentum back in West Ham’s favour, before the Toon went 3-1 up.

Ayew did get a chance to make amends for his penalty miss, and pulled the score back to 3-2, but it was too little too late for Moyes’ side.

Asked to summarise West Ham’s performance at the end of the game, Moyes said: “Not a good one that’s for sure. It was a game full of errors, I just keep looking at the goals we’ve conceded and the mistakes we’ve made.

“It was near enough right from the start. We got the goal – I think from a Newcastle mistake – but after we made two or three terrible mistakes which led to them scoring from a free-kick.

“All in all, it just seemed like that on the touchline. Mistake after mistake. We then missed a penalty at 2-1 which makes it even more difficult.

“It was the manner of losing the goals. The third was a catastrophe, the way it came about. We don’t score the penalty, and those things can make a big difference.”
