West Ham United captain Mark Noble says his side’s performance at the weekend against Swansea City was simply “not good enough” for the club’s fans.

The Hammers were, well, hammered 4-1 by Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, with the defeat seeing the Swans leap above them in the Premier League table for the first time this season.

And now with his side in a full-blown relegation fight, Mark Noble says the Hammers must produce far better than what they showed at the weekend if they are to beat the drop.

“Nothing seemed to go right and it was one of those games where if something could have gone wrong went wrong,” said the skipper. “It’s down to us now to pick ourselves up.

“We’ve spoken in the dressing room and we need to put this behind us as there is no point dwelling on it. It was a bad result and a bad performance, but we’ve got nine more games and we need to pick points up.”

The away end at the Liberty Stadium was nearly sold out on Saturday, with a host of West Ham fans making the eight-hour round trip to watch their side lose 4-1.

And Noble has since issued an apology to those who travelled to watch the game.

“I can’t believe how many fans turned up, to be honest. We drove through the snow on Friday and it took us just under seven hours to get here on a coach, but it was a poor performance from us.” he said.

“They know we appreciate them coming here, especially me, and that’s West Ham fans for you; they’re always going to be here in numbers cheering and they didn’t deserve what happened.”
