“You Can’t Shut The Door…” La Liga Ace Makes Frank Transfer Admission After Failed 38.5M Move To West Ham

Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma has admitted that he is still open to joining a Premier League club if the opportunity arises.

The Dutchman was linked with a host of teams in the summer, including Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United, but West Ham were the club who looked likeliest to sign the player, with reports of a potential £38.5m transfer. A deal did not materialise, though, and when asked whether he’d consider a switch to England in the future, Danjuma replied:

“You always have to say yes. You can’t shut the door to the Premier League. The competitiveness of the country, the way that the fans are, the way that football has been ingrained here in the people’s culture – the Premier League is a different kind of experience. At the right time, at the right moment in my career, you always have to be open to that.”

Danjuma’s performances this season have been rather underwhelming, having scored five goals in 15 appearances for Villarreal, but he has had to recover from a muscular injury that kept him out of the first eight games of the campaign.

If the 25-year-old can perform well between now and May, though, it’s likely that Premier League teams (including the Hammers) will once again consider making a move for the player next summer.
