West Ham vs Tottenham: Match Preview and Predictions

After what can only be described as an abysmal start to the season, West Ham seem to have really picked themselves up and will go into the game against Spurs unbeaten in their last three games.

A 2-0 victory over Huddersfield, a goalless draw against West Brom and a 3-0 victory against Championship stragglers Bolton is not necessarily the most impressive way to go unbeaten into their clash with Tottenham, but it is progress nonetheless, and Slaven Bilic will be hopeful of continuing his unbeaten streak with the club.

The Hammers were victorious in the fixture last season, ending Spurs’ title hopes by beating them 1-0 at the London Stadium. This season, Spurs have struggled for consistency in the league – most recently drawing 0-0 with Swansea City. It will be interesting to see which side goes for the three points most convincingly in this encounter, both sides will be desperate not to drop any more points.

West Ham will be without Welsh defender James Collins, attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini and Pedro Obiang. Collins is still out with an ankle injury, while Lanzini has a knee problem. Obiang has a small muscular injury, but is a doubt for the game. It is also unclear whether Mark Noble and Edmilson Fernandes will be available for the Hammers. Spurs on the other hand will still be without midfielder Victor Wanyama, defender Danny Rose and forward Eric Lamela.

In ten matches against West Ham, Harry Kane has scored on five occasions – there are only six other sides he has scored against more. However, the England international has never scored away at the Hammers.

West Ham have won four of the last six meetings against Spurs at home – coming from both Upton Park and the London Stadium. Three of those games ended 1-0 to the hosts, a result Bilic would surely take this weekend.
