ExWHUEmployee Names 9 Managerial Candidates That West Ham Could Hold Talks With In Addition To Lopetegui

West Ham will consider a lengthy list of options to replace David Moyes as manager, according to ExWHUEmployee.

The insider source was speaking about the club’s interest in Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim and former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui on the West Ham Way podcast when he also mentioned nine other potential candidates:

“Discussions could also take place with Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness; another choice of Tim Steidten. A German manager would appeal to our German technical director and another that is out of contract is former Munich manager Hansi Flick.”

“Paulo Fonseca of Lille is another manager who it is thought the club will want to talk to. He is likely to have discussions in the coming weeks. Arne Slot is another on the radar but it appears other clubs appeal to him more at this stage.”

“They will also talk to a couple of domestic-based managers and these could include Gary O’Neil, Vincent Kompany, Marco Silva, Steve Cooper and Michael Carrick.”

Who are the likeliest candidates to replace Moyes at West Ham?

Hoeness is highly regarded having guided Stuttgart to 3rd place in the Bundesliga table this season despite working on a shoestring budget. However, the general feeling is that the German will stay at his current team for at least one more year.

Feyenoord’s Arne Slot is the leading contender to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool so he can probably be ruled out as well. Fulham’s Marco Silva and ex-Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper have been mentioned before but they are unlikely to be favourites for the Hammers hot seat.

Middlesbrough head coach and former West Ham player Michael Carrick has seen his odds shorten in recent weeks so he could be under consideration, but the inclusion of Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is somewhat surprising. You would have to consider the ex-Manchester City captain an outsider. Along with Carrick and Lopetegui, it looks as though both Hansi Flick and Paulo Fonseca will be interviewed if they are interested in the job.
