West Ham On Alert As Ligue One Midfield General Opens Door To Summer Transfer

Nantes captain Abdoulaye Toure has raised the prospect of leaving his current club at the end of the season. He was heavily linked with a switch to West Ham when he asked to leave his current club last summer, and the midfielder says he is still open to a possible transfer:

“A departure? I tell myself that if it was not this summer, it will inevitably come at a time. I made it clear that I wanted to leave [last year], to discover something new.”

“I am an ambitious person, so necessarily [my thoughts] go towards bigger clubs with a little more consistent prospects. Unfortunately, it did not happen, but today I have a new role.”

Toure was also reportedly being looked at by the Hammers as a target in the January transfer window, but there are no guarantees that David Moyes’ side will be looking to go back in for him when the season finishes.

Tomas Soucek was brought in on loan from Slavia Prague instead and he will move to the London Stadium on a permanent basis if the club avoids relegation.

Even with the Czech international’s arrival, though, there could be room for another midfield enforcer with Carlos Sanchez expected to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer.
