West Ham are in talks to sign French teenager Bilel Hassaini, according to reports in the English media.

The France Under 17 international has left AS Nancy after his youth contract ended with the French second division outfit.

Hassaini has also been eyed by Liverpool and Arsenal, and it was believed that he was close to a switch to Paris Saint-Germain before a move collapsed.

The Hammers now appear to be favourites to land the 18-year-old, as they look to strengthen their academy with another young talent.

Hassaini is an attacking midfielder who generally plays from the right-wing, but he has yet to make his senior debut.

Despite the player being out of contract, his age means West Ham will have to pay compensation to Nancy if they do snap him up on a long-term deal this summer.

A nominal fee will be required to compensate his former club for youth development costs.
