West Ham could reignite their interest in Portugal international William Carvalho, according to the Estadio Deportivo.
The Seville based newspaper believes the Hammers are considering a move for the 6ft 2 midfielder if Declan Rice is sold to Manchester United.
Carvalho was heavily linked with a switch to the London club when he was still at Sporting Lisbon, but he eventually moved to Real Betis for €30m last year.
However, the Spanish club’s failure to qualify for Europe last season means they are open to offloading the 27-year-old if a decent bid is made.
Carvalho played a prominent role for Portugal as they secured the UEFA Nations League title last week, and his performances apparently gained the attention of West Ham’s scouts.
At this stage, though, a lot has to happen before any offer would be tabled. The Hammers want Rice to stay and it’s likely only a massive bid from United would see the England international leave the London Stadium.
