West Ham are one of the clubs interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher before the transfer window shuts, according to reports in England.

The Hammers, Crystal Palace and Newcastle would all like to take the England international on loan but the player has also been the subject of a formal bid from Everton.

After receiving £45m from the sale of Anthony Gordon, the Toffees are said to have made a similar offer for Gallagher, as they look to reinforce their midfield ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

At the time of writing, it is not known whether Everton’s offer has been accepted but a lot will depend on whether Chelsea see the midfielder as part of their long-term plans.

If they do, it could boost West Ham’s chances of securing Gallagher on loan instead. The 22-year-old was linked with the Irons in the summer, so manager David Moyes and the recruitment team are clearly fans, but we shall have to wait and see if they can secure his services this month.
