Chelsea Target Move For 19 Goal West Ham Forward

West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen is being targeted by Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Writing on his Substack, Phillips said an offer from the Blues is currently deemed “unlikely” due to the player having signed a contract that keeps him at the London Stadium until the summer of 2030.

However, it is believed that Bowen is among a shortlist of options that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are considering as they seek to strengthen in wide areas.

Considering the club have tied him down to a long-term deal, West Ham should be confident of keeping the England international beyond the end of this season.

Bowen has been in great form

The 27-year-old has hit the back of the net 19 times in 41 appearances for the Hammers this campaign. Despite the London club’s erratic form, he has been one of manager David Moyes’s most consistent performers.

Due to injuries to other players, Bowen has had to play through the middle more regularly than usual in recent months. It hasn’t, though, affected his goalscoring whatsoever.

The West Ham star has been sidelined with injury

Bowen has had issues with his back in recent weeks. He was sidelined for the defeats to Fulham and Crystal Palace and he didn’t play in the first leg of the Irons’ Europa League quarter-final tie against Bayer Leverkusen either.

The forward did make himself available for the second game but Moyes confirmed that the player needed to take painkilling injections in order to feature.

Bowen has now returned to training and there is a chance that he will play some part against Liverpool this weekend. It’s doubtful that he will last the full 90 minutes and it may be the case that Moyes will decide to use him as an impact sub off the bench instead if he isn’t 100% fit.
