Lee Sharpe believes Manchester United defender Harry Maguire would benefit from a move to West Ham.
The Hammers had a £30m offer for the England international accepted last summer, only for the player to reject the transfer, but Sharpe says Maguire should seriously consider an offer from the Hammers if they do revive their interest in the defender:
“I look at a West Ham move on the surface and think what a great move it would be. I know West Ham struggled a bit last year, but that was probably due to being in Europe for the first time in a while.”
“They’ve come back again and looked decent this year. They’ll always have a decent team. David Moyes is a really good manager, and he [Maguire] would benefit from playing under David Moyes in a team like West Ham.”
Supporters on X disagree with Sharpe’s assessment and many believe that there are better options on the market than Maguire:
We can do better than him

Not the sort of player Steidten would pay much attention to, if his focus is on looking to the future.

Maguire has made his bed
It’s clear that the 30-year-old was intent on staying at Old Trafford even after being stripped of the captaincy by his manager Erik ten Hag.
To his credit, Maguire had managed to win his place back in the starting lineup, although an injury has now hampered his efforts. In any case, you can’t see David Moyes’s side making another attempt to sign him.
West Ham have their eye on other targets
Recruiting a new centre-back won’t be among the club’s priorities for the January transfer window. A new No.9 is top of the agenda.
With resources restricted due to concerns over Financial Fair Play, the Irons may not buy more than 1 or 2 players next month anyway.
