REPORT: West Ham Join Battle To Sign Unsettled Manchester United Midfield General

West Ham are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic, according to 90min.com. The website reports that the Hammers could be a possible option as the Serbian likes living in London following his spells at Chelsea.

The 31-year-old is keen to leave Old Trafford after finding himself out of the first-team picture under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He has played just five games for the Red Devils this campaign.

West Ham will have rivals for Matic’s signature, though. As we mentioned yesterday in our post about Frank Kessie, AC Milan are keen on the United star, along with their city rivals Inter.

However, the Serbian international’s interest in staying in England could tip things in the Irons’ favour. The London club are light in midfield after having failed to replace Pedro Obiang in the summer.

Carlos Sanchez is also expected to leave once his current expires at the end of the season, and with Jack Wilshere’s ongoing injury issues, a heavy responsibility has been placed both on captain Mark Noble and Declan Rice to play the majority of matches.
