REPORT: West Ham In Talks With La Liga Club For £44m Rated Uruguayan Hitman

West Ham are in negotiations for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, according to reports in Spain.

Hammers officials are reportedly in the country to thrash out a deal for the Uruguayan international as they look for a possible replacement for Marko Arnautovic.

The Austrian is keen on leaving for China with Shanghai SIPG expected to increase their £35m bid to £45m in the coming days.

If the second offer is made and accepted, it would allow West Ham to instantly reinvest the money in Gomez. The 22-year-old has a €50m (£44m) release clause and has been linked with the likes of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid over the past year.

This campaign, the Uruguayan has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 17 league appearances. It is not a bad return considering that Celta Vigo are battling against relegation. They currently sit 17th in La Liga, two points above the drop zone.
