Redknapp hails ‘fantastic’ Hammers in the transfer window so far

Former West Ham United player and manager Harry Redknapp has praised the club’s efforts in the transfer window this summer, labelling David Sullivan and David Gold’s work as ‘fantastic’.

The Hammers suffered a disappointing season last campaign, narrowly avoiding relegation and having masses of fan protests.

However, they’ve set their sights on spending big again this summer, and have been one of the most active teams in the Premier League so far during the transfer window.

They have already completed the signings of Ryan Fredericks and Jack Wilshere on free transfers, spent £7m on goalkeeper Lukas Fabianski and a further £22m on French defender Issa Diop.

It is believed that the Hammers are also close to signing Paraguayan defender Fabien Balbuena and Borussia Dortmund forward Andriy Yarmolenko for a combined £25 million. They are also chasing Brazil and Lazio forward Felipe Anderson, who is said to be nearing his £40 million switch.

That’s not all though, the Hammers have also seen a heft bid for Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles turned down, and are constantly linked with various high-profile names.

Fans will be eagerly anticipating the upcoming season with all these new names coming in, and Redknapp has praised the efforts of the board to make it all possible.

“Fantastic (transfer window so far, and it’s a) great signing (Jack Wilshere),” Redknapp told talkSPORT.

“I like the look of them. I mean West Ham ham are bringing in a few players, they look like they mean business this year which is great for the fans and gives them something to look forward to.

“They’re making a few signings and they look good.”
