Redknapp Gives His Verdict Of West Ham’s £22m Deadline Day Recruit

Former West Ham manager Harry Redknapp has hailed the signing of winger Jarrod Bowen, following his £22m arrival from Hull City.

The 23-year-old’s signature was secured late on transfer deadline day and speaking on the player’s potential, Redknapp said he was excited that he has joined the Hammers after seeing him in action recently:

“Oh, I like him [Bowen], oh my god. I watched him against Chelsea last week and I like him. He scores goals off that wing. And I think he’s going to be a real good player for West Ham.”

Bowen can play up front, as well as on the wing. The forward has scored 17 goals and provided six assists in 32 appearances this campaign, but he has limited experience of playing at the highest level.

The winger made seven appearances in the Premier League during the 2016/17 season when Hull were relegated, but it was his only time spent playing in the top flight.

Bowen has certainly developed as a player since then, though, and the Irons will be confident that he can make the step up and make an impact to help his new team steer clear of relegation.
