Michael Owen Predicts The Result As West Ham Take On Manchester United

Ex-Manchester United striker Michael Owen is backing West Ham to come away with a point when they travel to face his former club tomorrow.

The Hammers are six points behind the Red Devils in the table, with a game in hand and, with the London club having performed well above expectations this season, Owen thinks they will defy the odds once more at Old Trafford:

“I see this being a very tricky fixture for Manchester United. United’s best performances have been on the road this season. At home, overall, they’ve been decent, however, they do tend to switch off. It must be noted that Jesse Lingard will miss out due to the terms of his loan deal, so that is a blow for the visitors. That said, I still think the Hammers have enough about them to get something, so I’m siding with David Moyes to take at least a point against his former employers.”

Owen has gone with a 1-1 draw, which is an interesting prediction, considering both teams are in decent form heading into the match.

The Red Devils do have a number of injuries and their home form, as Owen points out, is a bit patchy, having drawn three and lost four on their own ground this season.

Coincidentally, West Ham have exactly the same record when playing away this campaign, so Owen’s prediction does seem appropriate. It’s likely to be a tight contest decided on the finest of margins.
