Hammers secure signing of Borussia Dortmund hitman

West Ham United have completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund hitman Andriy Yarmolenko on a four-year contract.

The Ukraine international joined Dortmund last year, however struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at the Westfalonstadion, making just 13 starts in the Bundesliga, scoring three goals.

Prior to his time in Germany however, the highly-rated 28-year-old enjoyed a prolific career with Dynamo Kiev.

In 11 seasons with Kiev, Yarmolenko managed an impressive 137 goals in 341 appearances, as well as registering well over 100 assists, and was named Ukrainian Premier League Footballer of the Year on two occasions.



The Ukrainian star also boasts an impressive record with his national team, scoring 35 times in 77 appearances, making him the country’s second highest ever scorer behind Andriy Shevchenko.

Now set to showcase his talents in the Premier League for the first time, Yarmolenko says he cannot wait to get started in the latest chapter of his career with West Ham.

“Of course, I am very happy to sign for West Ham United,” said the 28-year-old. “West Ham is a big club with good fans and I am happy to come to play in the Premier League.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world and I know that an interesting project is being built here at West Ham. The team wants to achieve high things and I am excited for this challenge.”
