David Moyes – “Noble’s’ goal was a worldy!”

West Ham United manager David Moyes has hailed club captain Mark Noble’s strike against Leicester City as a ‘worldy’ and praised the performance of his side.

The Hammers beat the drop in style as they beat 2015/16 Premier League champions Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Inter Milan loanee Joao Mario opened the scoring after 34 minutes, before Mark Noble sealed the win and his side’s Premier League status with a stunning volley with 25 minutes to play.

“Nobes’s goal was a worldy, wasn’t it! I’m pleased for Nobes because the Club means a lot to him, so I’m glad he got the goal,” said Moyes following the victory.

“Joao has helped us in lots of ways, he’s done two or three jobs and is a good footballer. He’s now come up with a couple of goals for us [against Southampton and Leicester] in this period. We brought him in to help us play a bit better and get a couple of goals, so I’m pleased with that.”

But it wasn’t just the goalscorers the Scot was pleased with on the day, with Marko Arnautovic, Arthur Masuaku and Declan Rice were just a few of the stand-out performers.

Moyes took over West Ham in early November, with his aim to keep the club in the top flight. Having achieved that goal, the former Manchester United and Everton man says it’s time to celebrate.

“I’m going to enjoy it and why not? The job when I came in was to make sure we weren’t relegated.”
