Allardyce Predicts Whether West Ham Will Stay Up After Latest Defeat

Former West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is backing David Moyes to keep the Hammers up despite the London club enduring another defeat against Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Moyes hasn’t won a game since his first match in charge against Bournemouth, but Allardyce feels that the 56-year-old will be able to turn things around:

“Yes, they can. David did it before, he got them out of trouble and they stayed up. One of the important things is for the West Ham fans to stay with them at home. I know it’s hard if you’re not seeing what you want to see, but if you want to stay in the Premier League, you need to get behind your team.”

The Irons head into Monday’s game against Liverpool third from bottom, one point off safety, but they could be deeper in the relegation mire come kick off with the likes of Aston Villa and Bournemouth playing before them.

They also have the daunting task of going to Anfield, where the Reds haven’t lost a league game in almost three years. Stranger things have happened, though, and with Jurgen Klopp’s men coming into the game off the back of a defeat in the Champions League, it may be a good time to play them.

However, it is still very unlikely that they’ll manage to get a shock result, and most fans will be focused on the Southampton game at home the following week.
