The performance of West Ham winger Felipe Anderson against Crystal Palace has been the centre of a fierce debate among some supporters on Twitter.
The 26-year-old did miss a clear cut chance in the first half and there were a few fans who believed the Brazilian failed to step up to the plate on Saturday:
He had a poor game but we know he can be world class on his day just needs consistency

I think he worked defensively. But not enough at the other side of the pitch

Utterly over rated.

However, there were also a large number of supporters who came to the defence of Anderson after the game:
He was one of the top performers

Anderson was one of the best

Dont understand why .people are slateing him .He tried and tried and was the one who was pushing on and creating chances .we are definitely a better team with him than without him simple as that

We look slow without Anderson and he is the only midfielder who always tries to up the tempo and the momentum. Anderson was no worse against Crystal Palace than all the other midfielders today. Lanzini, in particular, was non existent.

One of the best players? Defended well, started off our goal and without him in the side we would not have passed like that

He was the best while others disappeared

It was certainly not Anderson’s best display in a Hammers’ shirt but he improved in the second half and began to influence the match. For a record signing, though, supporters do expect to see more and it is understandable why there was some disappointment with his performance following the final whistle.
The Brazilian is yet to score this season and the last time he hit the back of the net was in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in April.
