Carragher Singles Out West Ham’s “Best Player” But Insists He Must Improve In One Key Area

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has praised West Ham winger Felipe Anderson’s ability, stating he believes he has the talent to play for a Champions League team.

However, the ex-Liverpool defender says that the Brazilian has to improve his end product. The 26-year-old is not a regular goalscorer and Carragher thinks the playmaker must chip in with a few more goals to spearhead the Hammers’ attempts to finish in the top six:

“This the man who I think could actually play for one of the Champions League clubs as he is top quality. West Ham’s best player in my opinion, well certainly from what I’ve seen.”

“But his goal record has to improve, one in his last 23, if the Hammers want to challenge those Champions League, European places, there has to be a lot more goals from the top man.”

Anderson missed a gilt-edged chance in the first half of the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, and while he wasn’t the only player to be wasteful in front of goal, it is something that West Ham must improve if they are to finish high up in the table.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini said after last night’s game that his side didn’t deserve to lose but the Irons will need to find a ruthless streak, which the likes of Anderson are capable of providing.
