Hammers fans delighted as struggling star returns to form

West Ham fans have been left delighted after struggling striker Andy Carroll returned to form in fine fashion on Tuesday night.

The former England international – who did plenty to stake his claim for return to Gareth Southgate’s side with his performance – bagged a brilliant brace as the Hammers ran out 2-1 winners against rivals West Brom.

David Moyes’ side had trailed thanks to a fortunate deflected strike from West Brom’s James McClean, however Carroll was on hand to save the day. The towering forward headed home his first goal of the season 15 minutes into the second half, before adding his second in stoppage time to secure a dramatic three points for his side.

The win sees West Ham’s revival under David Moyes continue, and takes them 16th in the table. Despite their third win in six games however, the Hammers still sit only one point above the Premier League’s relegation zones, although they do have a game in hand over the surrounding teams.

It was widely reported that Andy Carroll could be leaving the club this month after what has been his worst ever start to a season in a Claret and Blue shirt, with a number of clubs – including his former side Newcastle United – interested in prizing him away from the London Stadium.

However, after his brilliant display last night, it is likely Carroll will feature more and more for David Moyes’ side should he continue in a similar vein in weeks to come, especially considering the club’s other strikers, Javier Hernandez and Diafra Sakho, are both struggling for form.

The Claret and Blue army were delighted to have the big man back at his dangerous best …
