West Ham Target Summer Move For Ex Arsenal Academy Ace Who Has Racked Up 29 Goals This Season

West Ham are keeping tabs on Middlesbrough’s top scorer Chuba Akpom, according to reports in the English media.

The former Arsenal academy graduate has been in outstanding form for Boro this campaign, having racked up 29 goals in all competitions.

Akpom is out of contract at the end of the season, so he will have the freedom to move to any team he wants on a free transfer.

Two other Premier League teams, Everton and Leicester, are also monitoring the 27-year-old’s situation but, with both clubs likelier to be relegated than the Hammers, David Moyes‘ side would be the favourites for his signature.

It should be pointed out that, despite topping the Championship goalscoring charts, Akpom is not an out-and-out forward. His preferred position is as a support striker, behind a number nine. It would mean that West Ham would have to accommodate him if he were to make the switch to the London Stadium.
