West Ham Star Hopes He Is Given One Last Chance To Prove His Move Wasn’t A “Waste Of Time”

West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere is hoping he will be given one final opportunity to prove himself at the London Stadium after two injury-ravaged seasons at the club.

The 28-year-old has now fully recovered from a groin problem which has kept him out for most of the campaign, and he is now looking to impress David Moyes ahead of football’s possible return next month:

“I still feel like I’ve got unfinished business at West Ham. It’s not worked out how I wanted it to and I want to change that,’ said the former Arsenal midfielder. I don’t want to, when I’m done at West Ham, I don’t want West Ham fans to think: ‘that was a waste of time’.”

“I want to show them what I can do and when you get your opportunity you have to take it and that is my opportunity and show the manager what I can do.”

“Again, we’ve got a new manager who has not seen me play yet, not seen me on the training field and it’s like a fresh start for me and I’m looking forward to it.”

Wilshere has managed just 16 appearances since his free transfer move from Arsenal in 2018. An ankle injury curtailed his first year at the club and his time on the treatment table has certainly frustrated many fans.

Especially due to the fact he is paid a sizeable salary, he is currently perceived as an expensive flop, and he would need to do a lot in his final year with the Hammers to earn a new deal.

Wilshere’s current contract expires at the end of next campaign, and there have been claims that West Ham would consider getting him off the wage bill early, but the midfielder seems to be determined to prove his worth to the team.
