West Ham missed chance to sign Belgium international this summer after refusing to meet measly €10 million asking price

West Ham United missed the chance to sign Lazio’s Jordan Lukaku this summer by refusing to meet the Serie A club’s €10 million asking price.

The Belgium international and younger brother of Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku was heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium during a busy summer in the transfer window for the Hammers.

Reports from Italy suggested Lukaku was in-talks to follow former team-mate Felipe Anderson to the East London club, but while the Brazilian forward completed a club record £42 million transfer, Lukaku stayed put.

And it is now been revealed by Corriere della Serra that West Ham chose not to complete a move for the 25-year-old defender after being out off by Lazio’s €10 million price tag.

The Hammers spent in excess of £100 million in the summer of new talent, however Lukaku’s price was deemed too high.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have endured a terrible start to the new Premier League season, losing all four of their games os far and shipping 10 goals already.
