West Ham Lining Up ‘Second Bid’ For Uruguayan Poacher, With Teams ‘Not Far Away’ From Agreement

West Ham are preparing to table a “second bid” for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, according to The Sun journalist Jordan Davies.

It is claimed that the Hammers believe they are “not far away” in terms of agreeing a price, having had their first offer of £37m rejected:

Nunez has been in excellent form in recent months, having scored 20 goals in 25 appearances for Benfica. It has led to a whole host of Premier League teams keeping an eye on his development.

Liverpool and Chelsea have reportedly been sending scouts to watch the Uruguayan international in action, while Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle were mentioned as potential destinations in the Portuguese media last month.

As things stand, it appears that the Hammers are the only team serious about getting a deal over the line for Nunez this evening, but, with just hours to go before the deadline, they face a race against time to get the move finalised.
