West Ham Join Scramble To Snap Up Arsenal Ace After Contract Talks Stall

West Ham and Sassuolo are both interested in signing Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, according to reports in the English media.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and, while he would like to remain at the Emirates, the Gunners have not made a concerted effort to tie him down to a longer-term deal.

Sassuolo can already hold direct talks with Nelson about signing a pre-contract agreement, but the Hammers will have to wait until June to begin formal discussions.

It’s likely that conversations between West Ham and the agent of the former England Under 21 international have already taken place, but the player’s stance does suggest that his future won’t be resolved anytime soon.

Nelson is currently sidelined with a thigh injury that he picked up in a friendly against Juventus in December. The winger may feel that he can win himself a contract extension if he returns to fitness and makes an impact between now and May.
