West Ham “have offered just over £20m” for Cagliari striker Giovanni Simeone, according to Centotrentuno.com.
The Italian website, which specialises on rumours surrounding the Serie A club, say that the Argentinian international’s asking price is €30m (£27m) but there is a feeling that the two clubs could meet halfway.
Cagliari are looking to raise funds for their own transfer business during the January transfer window so Simeone may well be offloaded if the Hammers manage to reach a compromise.
The 25-year-old started the season in excellent form, having scored five goals in his first six league games but he hasn’t hit the back of the net since October, which would be a concern for West Ham fans.
Manager David Moyes has said he is being careful about not spending money on the wrong player. However, he has admitted that the London club have made offers for three or four forwards already, and it seems Simeone was one of them.
