Atletico Madrid have entered the race for Norwich City playmaker Emiliano Buendia, according to reports in the English media.

The Argentine has been linked to West Ham in recent weeks, as well as a number of other clubs, after a standout season where he has provided seven assists in 30 games for the Canaries.

Atletico are reportedly lining up a £13m bid for Buendia, but whether Norwich will accept such an offer will very much depend on the club’s financial situation.

Daniel Farke’s side could well have been relegated the next time the transfer window opens and, combined with the difficulties caused by the ongoing health crisis, they may have to sell the midfielder on the cheap to raise funds.

Buendia has spent most of his career in Spain, having started out with Getafe. It could be the case that he’ll be returning to La Liga in the not too distant future, unless the Hammers make their own move for the winger.
