West Ham United fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts following the news the club have completed the signing of Patrice Evra on a free transfer.
The Frenchman was free to join a new club outside the January, after having being let go by Marseille earlier this season.
The former free agent was given his marching orders by the Ligue 1 side after a incident involving a fan, in which the Frenchman appeared to kick them in the head after a touchline dispute.
After several months out however, the former Manchester United star now makes his return to football and to the Premier League – this time with the Hammers.
Evra has passed a medical and agreed personal terms at the club yesterday, before being formally announced as a West Ham player late in the afternoon.
In joining the Hammers, Evra brings plenty of Premier League experience to his new side.
The Frenchman made nearly 400 appearance for Manchester United between 2005 and 2014, winning five Premier League titles, three League Cups and a Champions League trophy.
That impressive trophy cabinet has come as little consolation to the West ham fans however, who have had their say on the signing of the former United star …

36-year-old Evra to West Ham!
We’re going to need a new, separate phone number just for #WHUFC fans to call in to complain about the club’s recruitment policy… 😳☎️🔥 https://t.co/Q1Os3eTO3a

Reports that West Ham are on the verge of signing Patrice Evra.
Luckily the pitch at the London Stadium is too far away from the crowd for a repeat of this. pic.twitter.com/39WegzpFi9

West Ham’s full back will have a combined age of 69 if Evra signs on a free…just what are the board doing with all their money?

David Sullivan in December: We will have to bring in 2 or 3 in January. They won’t be old journeymen, they will be young players. They won’t be 32.”

Bonkers move to sign Patrice Evra. West Ham don’t need a 36-year-old left back. Unless he’s going to play in centre midfield then it might make sense. Zabaleta/Evra axis in there. Imagine that.

David Sullivan – 19/01/2015: "I'd like to see us win the Premier League and then the Champions League in the next 5 years."
06/02/2018: West Ham sign UEFA-banned 36-year-old left-back Patrice Evra on a free transfer.
I love this game.

Zabaleta on one flank Evra on the other. West ham united are turning into OAP FC 😂

Evra signing for West Ham United. He player the hammers are getting, will be a pale shadow of the one that utd fans remember. Unfortunately people have short memories, and this spell may well taint him eventually.
