REPORT: £200K A Week Bundesliga Star Could Snub West Ham, Man Utd And Other Premier League Clubs

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is reluctant to return to the Premier League, despite interest from West Ham, Fulham and Crystal Palace, according to TEAMtalk.

Multiple reports have suggested that the three London clubs, along with Manchester United, have made enquiries about the former Chelsea forward’s availability.

However, Werner is said to be “apprehensive” about moving back to England, where he struggled for two seasons during his time with the Blues.

TEAMtalk claim that the German international would prioritise staying in the Bundesliga if he does leave Leipzig during the January transfer window.

Why is Werner available on the transfer market?

The 27-year-old has only started two matches this season, with RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose preferring the strike partnership of Benjamin Sesko and Lois Openda.

With Werner keen to get game time so he is in contention for Germany’s squad for the European Championship next summer, he may have to leave his current club.

West Ham could consider a loan offer

TEAMtalk report that it is not only Werner’s reluctance to move back to England that is a problem for West Ham and other Premier League teams.

The Leipzig forward is believed to be earning £200,000 a week. That figure is well above the Hammers’ highest earner, who is Lucas Paqueta (£150,000 a week).

One solution could be a loan deal. A move on a temporary basis may be more amenable to Werner, who is clearly hesitant about a permanent transfer. Also, it would allow West Ham to negotiate with Leipzig about paying a percentage of the German’s salary.

With the Irons having issues with Financial Fair Play too, it would be considered an attractive deal as no transfer fee would need to be paid.
