Santiago Gimenez’s Transfer Stance Revealed As West Ham And Arsenal Circle 13 Goal Eredivisie Marksman

Feyenoord say that West Ham target Santiago Gimenez is “happy” at the Eredivisie champions and it would take a sizeable bid for them to part ways with their top scorer in January, according to The Mirror.

Gimenez has scored 13 league goals (15 in all competitions) and it is believed that both the Hammers and Arsenal are keeping close tabs on the Mexican international.

David Moyes’ side will be in the market for a new no.9 when the transfer window opens, and reliable sources have suggested that Gimenez is one of the top names on their shortlist.

Feyenoord won’t make things easy for them, though. The Dutch club know their defence of the Eredivisie title will be compromised if they let Gimenez leave midway through the season.

It means that they could ask for a fee between €40m (£35m) and €50m (£44m) for the 22-year-old.

Are West Ham looking at other strikers?

While Gimenez is clearly one of the favoured options, the Irons have also been linked with other targets in recent weeks.

It has been claimed that a move for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke could be revived, while Chelsea’s Armando Broja and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner have been mentioned in newspaper reports too.

West Ham’s need for a new forward has become more urgent

Michail Antonio is set for an extended spell on the sidelines with a knee injury he sustained on international duty playing for Jamaica.

There were fears that the 33-year-old could be out of months, but it is believed that he may now return to the field in a matter of weeks instead. Nonetheless, the lack of alternatives to Antonio, following the departure of Gianluca Scamacca last summer, means additional reinforcements up front are required.
