REPORT: Club ‘Determined’ To Keep Hold Of 13 Goal Striker Who Is Attracting Interest From West Ham And Arsenal

Bournemouth are “determined” not to sell top scorer Dominic Solanke to West Ham or Arsenal during the January transfer window, according to The Guardian.

The England international only signed a new contract back in September and he has been integral to the Cherries’ improved form in recent weeks.

Solanke scored a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest at the weekend, taking his total number of goals for the season to 12. He added another in the subsequent win over Fulham on Boxing Day.

Considering that the 26-year-old hit the back of the net only 7 times in the whole of last campaign, it demonstrates how much his game has progressed in such a short period of time.

West Ham did try to buy Solanke before the start of the season

It is believed that the Hammers did table a bid of around £40m for the former Chelsea and Liverpool player in the summer, only for it to be knocked back by Bournemouth.

Following his recent purple patch in front of goal, it’s likely that Solanke would cost even more in January. With that being the case, David Moyes’ side may look at pursuing cheaper options instead.

Who are the alternative strikers that the club could sign?

Due to concerns over Financial Fair Play (FFP), it is believed that West Ham could be more inclined to recruit a striker on loan or go for a low-cost solution.

Both RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike have been suggested as targets if the Irons want to sign someone on a temporary basis next month.

Alternatively, there is the possibility of making of move for someone like Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, who is said to have a very low release clause. Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Chelsea’s Armando Broja have also been mentioned but the funds required to secure their services may be beyond the club’s means in January.
