West Ham Could ‘Finally Sign’ Long Term Target From Chelsea For £40M

West Ham will have the chance to secure the services of Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher this summer, according to the Claret & Hugh.

The England international has been a long-term target for the Hammers and, with the midfielder closing in on the final 12 months of his contract, the website claim that the London club will be able to “finally sign” the player.

Gallagher has been a regular starter this season but the Blues are keen to raise funds to balance the books. The London club is under pressure to stay in line with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR).

As Gallagher is homegrown, he will go down as pure profit on the accounts, making his sale very attractive to the bean counters at Stamford Bridge.

Claret & Hugh report that a fee of around £40m could be enough to snap up the 24-year-old in the next transfer window.

Gallagher is reluctant to leave Chelsea

The midfielder would reportedly prefer to remain at his current club and sign a new deal. However, it has been claimed that he would accept a move away from the Blues if he hasn’t been offered a contract extension before the end of the season.

With there being just over a month to go before the final game, it does look increasingly likely that Gallagher will be moving teams this summer.

West Ham will have rivals for the player’s signature

The interest in the Chelsea star is believed to be very high. Back in August, when it was first rumoured that the Blues would be open to offers for Gallagher, Tottenham were mentioned as one of his main suitors.

It is expected that Spurs and other Premier League teams, including Newcastle, will compete with the Irons if Gallagher is made available for transfer over the coming weeks and months.
