West Ham ‘Are Keen On Buying’ £55M Rated Belgian Star But There’s One Big Problem

West Ham “are keen on buying” Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, according to The Sun.

However, the English tabloid claims that the Hammers are not getting any indications from the player that he would be open to joining the club.

It is believed that Onana would like to move to “a club in the Champions League” if he were to leave Goodison Park before the transfer window closes.

Ironically, that could mean the Belgian international stays where he is as his other potential suitor, Chelsea, don’t have any European football next season whatsoever (unlike West Ham). Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported last month that the Blues were considering a bid for the midfielder, who could cost £55m:

West Ham have plenty of other midfield targets

While Onana is one of the players that Irons boss David Moyes is looking at to reinforce the midfield after Declan Rice’s departure, plenty of other names are also being considered.

Juventus’s Denis Zakaria, Ajax’s Edson Alvarez, Valencia’s Yunus Musah, Bologna’s Jerdy Schouten, Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Fulham’s Joao Palhinha are in the frame as well.

The club should focus their efforts on signing players who want to wear the claret and blue

It also should be remembered that Onana turned down a switch to West Ham only a year ago, in favour of Everton, so the player clearly has no desire to make the transfer.

Moyes and technical director Tim Steidten would be wise to devote their energy towards alternatives who will be proud to wear the shirt.
