The TEN Premier League Starlets Who Have Been Nominated For The 2022 Golden Boy Award

Italian newspaper Tuttosport have released their 100-player shortlist for the 2022 Golden Boy Awards.

To qualify, you simply have to be below the age of 20, as well as playing professionally in Europe. Previous winners include the likes of Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

Ten Premier League players have been animated this year, although not all of them actually played in England last season (with some having been loaned out).

Fabio Carvalho (Liverpool)

The Portuguese playmaker played a key role in helping Fulham to promotion back to the Premier League but Liverpool have now snapped him up for an initial £5m.

Yan Couto (Manchester City)

The right-back has yet to play for his parent club, but he did have an impressive season out on loan at Portuguese side Braga, who made it to the Europa League quarter-finals.

Amad Diallo (Manchester United)

The Ivorian is one of the surprise names on this list. He joined Rangers on loan during the January transfer window but failed to make an impression during his six months at Ibrox.

Anthony Elanga (Manchester United)

The winger was one of the few bright spots for United during a wretched season. Elanga became a regular starter under interim boss Ralf Rangnick but it remains to be seen if he’ll have the same status now Erik ten Hag has taken charge.

Harvey Elliott (Liverpool)

The teenager actually started three of the Reds’ first four league games but, after sustaining a broken ankle in an unfortunate incident against Leeds, he didn’t manage to recover his place. We shall see if he returns to the fore next campaign

Joe Gelhardt (Leeds)

The young striker scored two goals in 14 Premier League appearances for Leeds as he helped the Yorkshire club avoid relegation from the top flight.

Ki-Jana Hoever (Wolves)

The Dutchman joined Wolves from Liverpool in the deal that saw Diogo Jota move in the other direction. Hoever has, though struggled to make an impact since making the switch to Molineux and there are rumours that he could be sold to PSV Eindhoven.

Kacper Kozlowski (Brighton)

The Polish international was sent straight out on loan to Brighton’s feeder club Union Saint Gilloise after joining the Seagulls in January. Kozlowski made nine appearances for the Belgian side in the second half of the season.

Pape Matar Sarr (Tottenham)

Sarr was signed by Spurs in August last year but he was immediately loaned back to Metz. Unfortunately, while he made 33 appearances, he couldn’t prevent his team from being relegated from Ligue One.

Fabio Silva (Wolves)

The Portuguese forward is Wolves’ record signing but the teenager is finding things tough. He didn’t manage to find the back of the net in 26 games in all competitions last campaign.
