Swansea fixture a must win insists West Ham United defender

West Ham United’s Angelo Ogbonna says his side must move on from the weekend’s disappointing result and now turn their attention to the “must win” trip to Swansea on Saturday.

David Moyes’ side were humbled 4-1 by an impressive Liverpool side at Anfield at the weekend.

Goals from Emre Can, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane sealed a comfortable win for the hosts, with Michail Antonio finding what was a mere consolation goal for the Hammers.

Despite the disappointment of the defeat however, Ogbonna now says his side must dust themselves down and go again ahead of what will be a hugely important fixture at the weekend.

“I think we started the game well at Liverpool and the first half was good,” he explained. “But they are fantastic – Liverpool played a good game with pace. I think 4-1 was too much though.

“We went to Anfield to play our game, and we’re still positive of course. Now we have to focus on next week’s game at Swansea.”

West Ham sit only three points clear of Swansea – who are 18th in the Premier League table.

“We have to forget the Liverpool game and look forward. It’s an important one next week, we are focused on improving our position in the table and every game is important to get the big results.”
