“Still A Target” Insider ExWHUemployee Confirms West Ham Will Reignite Interest In 41M Dutch International

West Ham will revive their interest in Manchester City centre-back Nathan Ake this summer, according to inside source ExWHUemployee.

The Hammers were first linked with the Netherlands international last year but, speaking on the West Ham Way podcast, ExWHUemployee claimed that manager David Moyes is still keen on the defender who could reinforce their numbers at the back:

“Nathan Ake of Manchester City is still a target because we want a left-sided centre-back as a priority and Nathan Ake is one of them.”

It remains to be seen whether City would be prepared to let Ake leave. The 27-year-old did initially struggle after making the £41m switch from Bournemouth in 2020 but he has started 19 matches in all competitions for the Premier League champions this season.

The former Chelsea player would undoubtedly be a good addition to West Ham’s squad. The fact that he is left-footed means he would give some balance to Moyes’ options in defence, as ExWHUemployee points out.

Ake would almost certainly be Angelo Ogbonna’s long-term replacement, with the Italian international currently being the only left-sided centre-half in the Irons’ first-team squad.
