Report Reveals Free Agent Croatian Ace Turned Down Approach To Sign For West Ham “Recently”

Former Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic rejected a move to West Ham “recently” according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. The reporter claims that the Hammers tried to sign the Croatian international on a free transfer, but he turned down a switch to the London Stadium.

The veteran forward has also decided against moves to Aston Villa, Fiorentina and Benevento, with the major stumbling block being the player’s wage demands. He has also been linked with Manchester United over the past year.

Mandzukic moved to Qatar after leaving Juventus last December but his stay in the Middle East lasted only six months and he is still looking for his next club. West Ham boss David Moyes is likely to be still keen on recruiting another forward, after selling Albian Ajeti to Celtic in the summer.

With Michail Antonio currently sidelined with a hamstring problem, the Irons only have one other fit striker in Sebastien Haller heading into today’s game against Liverpool.
