“Official Soon…” Romano Deals West Ham Transfer Blow As Ex Chelsea And Arsenal Star Makes Decision On His Future

Olivier Giroud will sign a contract extension to keep him at AC Milan for another year, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

West Ham, Brentford and Crystal Palace were all mentioned as potential suitors in the Italian press last week, when there were doubts over whether the Frenchman would stay at the San Siro beyond the summer. However, Romano says an agreement over extending his deal until 2024 has been reached:

Giroud has been linked with the Hammers on and off over the past few summers, and the fact that he spent nine years in London during his time at Arsenal and Chelsea meant that a return to the capital was always a possibility.

However, the 36-year-old has been a regular starter for Milan this campaign, scoring 12 goals in 34 appearances, and it is believed that his preference was to remain with the Serie A champions.

In terms of where it leaves West Ham. Reports suggest that manager David Moyes may be targeting Coventry City’s Viktor Gyokeres if either Michail Antonio or Gianluca Scamacca leave the London Stadium at the end of the season.
