A rival Premier League club has not made a last-ditch bid to hijack West Ham’s move for Lyon attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to journalist Freddie Paxton.
The reporter, who has worked for the likes of The Guardian and The Times, claims no other team is aiming to stop the Hammers from securing the signature of the Brazilian international:
I’m told that rumours about another PL club coming in for Paqueta are NOT true.
Everything still on course for him to sign for West Ham.

Doubts about Paqueta’s switch to the London Stadium began to surface after Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas spoke out to say that an “English club” wanted to “come forward” to sign the 24-year-old at the “last moment.”
Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Newcastle have been credited with an interest in the player but it appears that no such bid from another Premier League team has been tabled. At the time of writing, it looks as though the midfielder will seal his switch to the Irons.
Paqueta is expected to cost €60m (£51m) in total, with €40m (£34m) being paid upfront and another €20m (£17m) in add-ons based on performances.
