West Ham have had a bid knocked back for Lyon attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta this summer, according to L’Equipe (via Foot01.com)
The Brazilian international has been a target for other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester City, but it appears David Moyes’ side were the first ones to make a formal approach for the player.
Paqueta is believed to be valued at around €65m (£55m) by Lyon so it seems that the Hammers failed to match the midfielder’s sky-high asking price.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the London Stadium in previous transfer windows so there is a longstanding interest in the player, but the chances of the transfer actually happening are believed to be pretty low.
It looks as if West Ham have also missed out on another midfielder based in France. A fee was agreed for Lille’s Amadou Onana but the Belgian is now poised to join Everton instead.
