Latest West Ham Injury Report Ahead Of The Match Against Newcastle

West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere is set for his first-team return this weekend when Manuel Pellegrini’s side face Newcastle.

The former Arsenal player has been out since September after undergoing ankle surgery but is likely to be named in the matchday squad for Saturday’s game at St James’ Park.

The Hammers are, however, sweating over the fitness of Marko Arnautovic. The Austrian is suffering from a hip injury and is undergoing treatment ahead of the trip to the North East.

Andy Carroll could replace the 29-year-old up front if he doesn’t win his fitness battle. The ex Liverpool striker has recovered from an ankle problem that had prevented him from playing so far this season. The forward made his return as a substitute against Manchester City last weekend.

The rest of West Ham’s injury concerns are long-term. Ryan Fredericks is out until the New Year with a shin injury, while Carlos Sanchez (knee), Andriy Yarmolenko (Achilles), Winston Reid (knee) and Manuel Lanzini remain on the treatment table.
