‘I’m Actually Shocked If This Is True’ ‘No Chance’ Fans On Twitter Dismiss Reports Linking West Ham With £26m Transfer

West Ham are one of three Premier League teams who are interested in Zenit St Petersburg forward Sardar Azmoun, according to reports in Italy.

Arsenal and Leicester are also said to be keeping tabs on the Iranian international, along with Serie A side Napoli.

However, it is believed that Zenit could hold out for between €30m (£26m) and €35m (£31m) for Azmoun; a figure fans on Twitter don’t believe the Hammers can afford:

With reports claiming that West Ham still owe a sizeable portion to Eintracht Frankfurt for Sebastien Haller, the likelihood of the Irons spending sizeable amounts in the next transfer window is almost zero.

Azmoun looks like he is a talented player, and the London club could do with another forward, but the financial pressure on the club amid the ongoing health crisis is likely to rule out any significant purchases.

The only signing that looks almost certain is Tomas Soucek, who West Ham will be obligated to buy if the Hammers stay up.
